Backyard Deck Rebuild

What happens when cement support pillars are not installed deep enough into the ground? After close to 10 years of our freezing/warm winters, they shifted considerably..some to almost 45 degrees.

Deck had to be redone because of the lack of supports, far too much flex in the boards and rot.  For Phase 1, we extended the deck to host a BBQ area and railings (glass inserts to come). We started by pulling off the deck planks to get to the cement support posts. Removed the posts that were cracked or tilted and added many more 4x4 posts and cement footers. Added more beams and jacked everything to level. Finished off the stairs and the extended deck portion with "Picture Frame" borders to give it a nice look.

Now that everything is solid and properly supported, they are ready to host summer time BBQ's. Sure hope we're invited...

Some of the pictures you can see the lack of support posts, the shifting of them to almost 45 degrees. Note the picture frame borders around the steps and extended deck.
